Perfect School Shoes!

I've found the perfect shoes for work, finally!

If you haven't heard of them, let me introduce you to....Tieks!

Tieks are made by Gavrieli, and have been featured on Oprah's "O List"!

I ordered my Tieks on Wednesday evening, and I couldn't believe they were set to arrive on Saturday! However, I was totally bummed out when I saw that our local post office had moved the delivery date to 9/3 (Tuesday). :( I actually called (I hate making phone calls btw) and asked if I could just come pick them up from the post office. They said yes, so I jumped in the car and went over to pick them up right away!
It was a tiny box, but look at that Tiek blue color, so cute!

Adorable little headband or something on top of the box!

Here is Bella wearing it :)

Again, this is what I love about many companies today. From personal correspondence via e-mail and then handwritten notes, it really makes the consumer feel special!

Collapsible shoe bag for your heels!

I chose the camel, because I feel like it will go with everything. After wearing these around though, I'm definitely going to want them in black too I think!

I am such a sucker for teal heels. I love the random pop of color.

When I first pulled them out, I was like....ummm...they're all bent up. But it's just because they fold up so easily! Also, can I just be a weirdo and tell you that they smelled amazing? I decided not to take a picture of me smelling them, which I was definitely doing.

Ok- When I put them on I felt like I was wearing real ballet flats. They don't have elastic at the back, and don't pinch anywhere. You can actually see the gross redness on my feet from other flats I've been wearing this week on my feet in this picture, sorry! I can tell already that won't be happening in these babies.

The bottom has leather on the bottom as well, but the teal pads protect them and give some added cushion.

I love the way these look, but more importantly how they feel. I haven't worn anything else since I picked them up, and no pain! I can usually tell within an hour if a shoe is going to pinch. My only concern is that my toe is going to put a dent in the top of the shoe. For some reason my big toe really turns up and I feel like it's poking through the shoe. This happens with all shoes for me, so I don't think my Tieks are at fault.

I also love that they are the same color as my Manolo's, so I can switch into them when my feet start getting pinched.

Verdict: Love them! I will definitely be getting another pair, and I'm so glad I purchased these. They came fast, customer service is excellent, they look adorable, and feel great!
Only Con: they are a little expensive, but I totally believe that it's a worthy investment when it comes to shoes.

Thank you to Ashton and the Tieks team for being so amazing and keeping in contact throughout the ordering process. I felt completely pampered!

  3. Wearing properly fitting shoes is key to having comfort and energy throughout the day. If you feet don't fit properly you compensate by changing your posture, which leads to systemic imbalance causing other chronic issues and depleting energy. See out a well educated clerk to help you find the right shoe and don't settle for anything less than the perfect shoe. Juice wrld no vanity shoes

Before the School Year Begins...

I decided that before I can start posting about what I'm doing this year, I needed to share some of my favorite strategies from last year that went really well with the students. I was completely inspired by Kelly Gallagher after reading devouring all of his books at the beginning of the school year! I had the opportunity to go to a Kelly Gallagher workshop at Judson this spring, and it was absolutely amazing! He was so nice when I went up to him (I was terrified and starstruck), and even wrote "You're Welcome" on this piece of paper, because my students actually asked me to THANK HIM for changing the way we read novels in class.  Students + asked me + to say thank you to an author + about school stuff = UTOPIA! Here are some of my abbreviated notes from the day: His TOP Points: Kids should write 4X more than you can physically grade  Students suffer from word poverty. Must get students reading more in order to be exposed to vocabulary. We ne

Writing Notebook: Finishing up "Write Ideas" and first Invitation: AAAWWUBBIS!

Happy Monday!! Today I am continuing on with the Writer's Notebook! Last time I left off, students had just finished their "100 Things I Love". After that, students completed their writing territories, which I got from Nancie Atwell's book   Lessons That Change Writers.  We spent the first day discussing writing territories out loud, going through the list in detail, so that students had ideas of what to write about. I told them to think of it like the caption for a picture. One to two sentences that could become something more. Students had to complete this for homework. We also completely numbered our table of contents so that we could add in sections and start working in other parts of the notebook.  Students wrote their writing territories on these pages. Then we moved on to the Writer's Eye (I). Students had to place terms that described them within their "I" or around their "Eye". I created my o
