More classroom work!

So I made a BIG purchase yesterday!! I bought the....wait for it...SILHOUETTE CAMEO!!

I'm so excited, and I've been playing with it since I got it! Here's some of the stuff I've made so far...
I started with making my control panel...easy!

Bookmark, I'm planning to laminate it

Bought a candy jar from target $5! Saw something similar to this on a website and I was cracking up so I had to do it! My 8th graders were really into moustaches last year!

Here it is full, but you can't really see the vinyl anymore...

My MacBook Pro Decal! I used the Cricut vinyl and it worked like a charm!

My husbands MacBook Air decal, I couldn't believe how easy this was!

Now onto my classroom, I spent HOURS putting together my 6 bookcases, mostly because at first I didn't have a hammer so I was slapping it together, which really hurt, and then I put THREE bookcases together wrong in some way or another. What a pain!

Other perspective...

I am pretty pleased with the results! Still waiting on my 7th grade textbooks to put in, but this should be a great way to prevent unnecessary movement in the room!

I was pretty wiped after this, but I decided to suck it up and do my curtains...
I had leftover fabric draped over my chair and thought, what if I covered my chair??
So I did :) Thank you staple gun! I don't know how long it will last but it looks cute!
If you look closely, you'll see a note a former student stuck under my calendar :) I don't know how or when he got in my room but it was very sweet!

I finished up by setting up my no assignment area...

And put my WISE WORDS letters up (that I cut with my Cameo, of course!) :)

Added my mailbox to the suggestion box table, I duct taped a fedex box, it worked out ok!

Tomorrow I go back to work on the walls, and hanging things from the ceiling, which is always terrifying because I'm so short. More pics to come!

  1. LOOKS GREAT!!!! My Cameo is still in the box! I seriously have not had time to play with it...I just keep going to my old faithful Circut.

Before the School Year Begins...

I decided that before I can start posting about what I'm doing this year, I needed to share some of my favorite strategies from last year that went really well with the students. I was completely inspired by Kelly Gallagher after reading devouring all of his books at the beginning of the school year! I had the opportunity to go to a Kelly Gallagher workshop at Judson this spring, and it was absolutely amazing! He was so nice when I went up to him (I was terrified and starstruck), and even wrote "You're Welcome" on this piece of paper, because my students actually asked me to THANK HIM for changing the way we read novels in class.  Students + asked me + to say thank you to an author + about school stuff = UTOPIA! Here are some of my abbreviated notes from the day: His TOP Points: Kids should write 4X more than you can physically grade  Students suffer from word poverty. Must get students reading more in order to be exposed to vocabulary. We ne

Another Pinterest crafting project!

Look what I got!!! :) I will be creating this in the next few days  hours, and hopefully it will turn out as nice as the other ones I've seen online! Inspiration: Down the Learning Road It's not exactly the same, but I wanted one that was wider rather than tall. I got the organizer at Home Depot for $16.97! I'm thinking I'll mod podge it instead of paint it, but we'll see! What projects are you working on today?
